Overview

The Flex Youth Counselor interacts and supervises residents with a focus on safety, adherence to program rules and expectations, and creating a positive and nurturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Form therapeutic relationships with residents through day to day interactions
  • Promote a safe and positive environment
  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment
  • Observe and properly respond to behavioral issues through approved crisis intervention techniques
  • Follow daily program schedule
  • Actively participate in all recreational activities with residents
  • Adhere to safety standards- notify appropriate personnel if maintenance or repair is needed
  • Assist in the facilitation of psychoeducational groups
  • Assist in skills acquisition related to activities of daily living- independent living skills
  • Assist in Implementation of individualized treatment plans/interventions
  • Complete required documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Communicate with supervisor and co-workers
  • Provide transportation
  • Assist with household shopping
  • Conduct emergency drills as directed
  • Display positive customer relations
  • Supply basic first aid and emergency procedures if necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Competencies

  • High school Diploma or GED
  • Experience working with children or adolescents desired
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must pass a Criminal Record History Clearance and Child Abuse History Clearance

Youth Counselor

Full Time- days, evenings, and some weekends required

The Youth Counselor interacts and supervises residents on a day to day basis with a focus on safety, adherence to program rules and expectations, and creating a positive and nurturing environment.

  • Form therapeutic relationships with residents through daily interactions
  • Promote a safe and positive environment
  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment
  • Observe and properly respond to behavioral issues through approved crisis intervention techniques
  • Follow daily program schedule
  • Actively participate in all recreational activities with residents
  • Adhere to safety standards- notify appropriate personnel if maintenance or repair is needed
  • Counsel individual residents
  • Facilitate group counseling
  • Assist in skills acquisition related to activities of daily living- independent living skills
  • Implement individualized treatment plans/interventions
  • Complete required documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Attend all staff trainings and meetings
  • Communicate with supervisor and co-workers
  • Provide transportation
  • Assist with household shopping
  • Schedule appointments as directed
  • Conduct emergency drills as directed
  • Attend Interdisciplinary Treatment Team meetings
  • Display positive customer relations
  • Supply basic first aid and emergency procedures if necessary
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Competencies

  • High school Diploma required
  • Associates/Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Human Services, or Child Development preferred
  • Previous experience working with children and the ability to meet the expectations of our structured program will be considered equally
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Must pass a Criminal Record History Clearance and Child Abuse History Clearance
